Did you know that 85% of US adults consume caffeinated drinks every day? And why shouldn’t they? Energy drinks boost energy and give us a feeling of wakefulness and productivity.
There are lots of popular energy drink brands out there in the US market. But, in this article, I’ll tell you about the Zipfizz energy drink mix and let you know whether it’s good or bad for your health.
So, is Zipfizz bad for you?
When consumed at a moderate amount, it’s actually not bad for your health. The energy drink contains no detrimental ingredient that may pose any health risk.
However, don’t forget that ingesting too much of any substance can lead to some side effects. Drinking too many energy drinks like Zipfizz at a time may cause side effects like insomnia, issues with the digestive tract, and urinating a lot.
If you’re also wondering if you can drink Zipfizz every day then you can check out the article I wrote about the topic.
Also, note that breastfeeding women should not consume energy drinks because caffeine can negatively affect infants. The ingredients in energy drinks may not interact well with the prenatal vitamins breastfeeding mothers usually take.
Energy drinks are also not recommended for children and teens.

What is Zipfizz Energy Drink? (in case you don’t know)
Zipfizz is a powdered energy drink. It’s a delicious energy drink mix powder that’s good for you and tastes great.
Zipfizz is an energy booster that provides your body with essential micronutrients. There are many flavors available to choose from.
You can easily make the drink by pouring the water onto the Zipfizz powder.
Is Zipfizz bad for your health?
As I said earlier, this product isn’t bad for you when not used too much but to support this I will discuss with you briefly the ingredients found in it.
The ingredients determine the safety of any product they comprise.
You must assess the ingredients of food & beverage items before determining their safety.
First, to tell if Zipfizz is good or bad for your health, you need to analyze its ingredients. And then you can figure out how that ingredient affects your health and particular organs of your body.
But, if you keep reading, I will also briefly explain the ingredients in this product below.
So, what are the ingredients that comprise Zipfizz’s energy drink powder?
|Vitamin C||500 mg|
|Vitamin E||15 international units|
|Vitamin A||2150 international units|
|Vitamin B6||1 mg|
|Vitamin B12||2500 mg|
|Pantothenic acid||5 mg|
|Botanical antioxidant blend||205 mg|
This is a list of the ingredients found on the label of the tube. As you can see, there is no sugar and artificial coloring in Zipfizz.
However, take note that the ingredients statement from Zipfizz is not verified by the Food and Drug Administration.
Let’s start to analyze the elements.
First off is caffeine. According to Zipfizz’s claim, each serving contains 100 mg of caffeine.
Now, how much caffeine is good or bad for health?
Research suggests that up to 400 mg daily caffeine intake is the safe limit for adults and 2.5-3 mg per kg of body weight daily for children and adolescents.
And, for a pregnant woman, research recommendation is not to take more than 200 mg of caffeine. Anything more of that can cause miscarriage.
A cup of instant coffee can contain 55-65 mg caffeine while brewed coffee’s caffeine is around 107-151 mg.
In comparison, as you go through Zipfizz’s caffeine level, you can see that each tube contains 100 mg.
So you can consume up to about four servings a day and no more than that but I recommend taking less than that daily if possible.
Sucralose is an artificially synthesized sweetener used in products like soft drinks. In Zipfizz, this is used in combination with xylitol as an alternative to natural sugar. Sucralose is also 600 times sweeter than natural sugar and low in calories.
Considering this, it is better to consume in moderation.
Is Zipfizz bad for your kidneys?
No, it’s not bad when consumed moderately but using too much is another matter. According to research, high consumption of energy drinks can negatively affect renal function possibly due to the production of free radicals.
This was observed in mice but their body functions are close enough to humans that it’s possible our bodies will react in the same way.
Take note that kidney problems caused by excessive intake of energy drinks are rarely reported but it is still possible.
If you are pregnant or suffering from acute kidney disease, you might want to avoid energy drinks.
Is Zipfizz bad for your teeth?
Zipfizz is generally not bad for your teeth if you take proper care of them after usage.
Keep in mind, however, constant consumption of energy drinks may wear away the debris layer on the surface of your teeth and cause them to be hypersensitive.
As Zipfizz is acidic and contains artificial sugar sucralose, it may negatively affect dental health over the long term.
So always practice proper dental health hygiene like regularly brushing your teeth.
Is Zipfizz bad for your heart?
No, it’s not bad when taken moderately but, generally speaking, any energy drink poses a heart health risk to some extent, increasing heart rate and blood pressure.
Uncontrolled increases in heart rate are often harmless but can be dangerous if you have pre-existing heart conditions like atrial fibrillation.
Energy drinks have been linked to elevated blood pressure and stress hormone levels in young adults. According to the Mayo Clinic, drinking 16 ounces of any energy drink a day increases blood pressure by 6% and stress levels by 74%.
It’s not only Zipfizz that may be bad for your heart health but all energy drinks in general. So drink these substances moderately and consult a doctor if you have pre-existing health conditions.
Does Zipfizz have side effects on the liver?
Moderate intake of Zipfizz doesn’t affect the liver adversely. But, taking excessive amounts constantly can create a hepatotoxic effect.
Like I mentioned earlier, this is not exclusive to Zipfizz but applies to all energy drinks.
Does Zipfizz cause weight gain?
As Zipfizz claims, their product does not cause weight gain and, as such, would be a great help when you need energy while dieting.
They mention that this is possible because they use low calories and artificial sugars, xylitol, and sucralose instead of sugar.
But, according to research, there’s some evidence that artificial sugars like sucralose can lead to an increase in fat accumulation.
