Why trust Zipfizz as your energy drink? What makes it unique?

To answer this, you must know every ingredient that goes into the formulation of the energy drink.

For a brief answer, Zipfizz offers various flavorful energy drinks with caffeine, electrolytes, and other vitamins to further enhance the surge of energy to make you stay active.

Keep reading to know the nitty-gritty details of Zipfizz.

What is Zipfizz?

Zipfizz is a low-calorie, sugar-free energy drink with only two net carbohydrates.

It acts as a complete nutritious package with 24 nutrients that provides energy in a maximum of 30 minutes.

I will explain the time it takes for caffeine to take effect and be completely used up by the body later on in this article.

It’s a healthier option than energy drinks and coffee. Zipfizz turns water into a hydrating and refreshing performance beverage.

How many calories are in Zipfizz?

The total amount of calories in one serving pack of Zipfizz is 20 calories which are surprisingly low compared to most brands available.

This is good because women actually need 1600-2400 calories per day while men need 2000-3000 calories per day.

So you can rest easy because if you only consume one serving of Zipfizz per day then you are very far off from having too much caloric intake.

Zipfizz energy drink contains 24 components which include electrolytes, vitamins, and most importantly caffeine.

Zipfizz is just a supplement for an active day and shouldn’t be used as an alternative to a healthy meal.

How much caffeine is in Zipfizz?

Zipfizz contains 100 mg of caffeine in each tube as I’ve mentioned in this article where I discuss Zipfizz nutrition facts in more detail.

An 8 oz cup of brewed coffee has around 95 mg of caffeine so it’s more or less the same amount as one serving of Zipfizz.

A cup of coffee
Coffee is a common source of caffeine.

The recommended amount of caffeine intake per day is up to 400 mg.

But, personally, I can only take 100-200 mg per day so it’s best to know your limits.

So even if you consume just one serving of Zipfizz per day, assuming you do not have sensitivity to caffeine or the other ingredients in this product, then there will be no prominent side effects.

Caffeine is the crucial element to keep you boosted and full of energy to maintain your long busy day. Coffee is a prominent source of caffeine, and its the most common beverage and energy drink.

Let’s dig into the primary health benefits of caffeine that are medically proven.

Health Benefits of Caffeine

Short Term Memory Booster

Caffeine appears to increase short-term memory by affecting the regions of the brain associated with memory and focus. However, it’s unclear how long the effect lasts or how it differs from person to person.

Cognitive Health Benefits

There are a few theories regarding how coffee can assist, prevent, or slow cognitive decline.

Caffeine inhibits beta-amyloid plaque formation, which may play a role in the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

Researchers also believe that because coffee consumption is linked to a lower incidence of type 2 diabetes, a contributing factor for dementia, it lowers the risk of getting dementia.

Caffeine: Strong Antioxidant

Caffeine is an antioxidant that fights inflammation, which is the root of many chronic diseases like arthritis, atherosclerosis, and cancer.

It also neutralizes free radicals, which are produced generally as part of everyday metabolic processes but can lead to oxidative damage and chronic illness.

Sugar Content In Zipfizz

Zipfizz does not include any sugar. It is sweetened with Xylitol and has only 20 calories.

Xylitol is a low-calorie sugar replacement and has minimal effects on blood sugar.

Zipfizz is a sugar-free powdered energy drink.

Sources of Xylitol include:

  • Berries
  • Birch Bark
  • Pumpkin
  • Cauliflower
  • Plums

Xylitol is found in small amounts in humans since we produce the substance during the normal metabolism process. Take note, though, that this substance is toxic for dogs.

It is also considered a safe food additive by the FDA.

Vitamins

Zipfizz energy drink is enriched with a complete vitamin pack.

A hand holding different pills and tablets
This energy drink has the same vitamins you can drink as pills or tablets.

Let’s take a look at a list of vitamins and their major roles in fulfilling your body’s functions.

Types of VitaminsMajor Role
Vitamin CRole in immune functioning
Vitamin EAn antioxidant that fights free radicals in the body.
Vitamin AEssential for the proper functioning of retina, skeletal and soft muscles
Vitamin B1(Thiamine)Breaks down carbs into energy
Vitamin B2(Riboflavin)Helpful in production of red blood cells
Vitamin B3(Niacin)Promotes skin health
Vitamin B5(Pantothenic acid)Energy production and keeps the immune system healthy
Vitamin B6(Pyridoxine)Helps improve mood, decrease stress, and maintains proper sleeping patterns
Vitamin B7(Biotin)Needed for metabolism of protein, carbs, and fats
Vitamin B9(Folate)Crucial role in the nervous system
Vitamin B12(Cobalamin)Helps in the production of DNA, prevents anemia
Different types of vitamins in Zipfizz and their health benefit.

These vitamins are really helpful in keeping the body healthy. However, anything below or beyond a certain limit is a potential threat to the body. An example would be vitamin B12.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 keeps the nerves and blood cells healthy and that’s why it’s important to not have a deficiency.

On the other hand, a high level of vitamin B12 can cause gastrointestinal disturbances like diarrhea and also causes dizziness and headache but this usually occurs when you take medications to treat vitamin B12 deficiency.

Normally, an excess of vitamin B12 in the body will just be removed via urine so there is some chance you will be urinating a lot after taking a serving so best not to consume this if you’re going on a long trip.

Considering this, in my opinion, you should use only up to three servings a day.

Taurine

Taurine is an amino acid derivative. Humans have the capacity to make taurine and it is naturally present in the human body but it is also available as a dietary supplement for those having a taurine deficiency.

Sources of taurine include:

  • Meat
  • Seafood
  • Dairy products
  • Breast Milk

However, taurine can also be extracted from some plants.

The source of taurine in Zipfizz is from green tea and grapes extract making it vegan friendly.

Roles of Taurine

Taurine is most commonly used among athletes and gym enthusiasts as it is essential for protein synthesis and manages glucose flow to the muscles, hence maintaining body muscle mass.

Other functions include:

  • Role in skeletal and cardiac muscles
  • Muscle mass production
  • Removal of fats

You can consume 500-2000 mg of taurine per day without toxic effects.

Botanical Antioxidant Blend

Zipfizz contains fruit extracts with antioxidant properties.

Zipfizz contains what is called a Botanical Antioxidant Blend.

This blend is composed of:

  • Caffeine Anhydrous
  • Guarana Seed Extract
  • Green tea leaf Extract
  • Alpha-Lipoic Acid
  • Green coffee bean Extract
  • Grape Seed Extract
  • Grape Skin Extract

Every tube of Zipfizz contains 205 mg of this blend. However, the amount of each ingredient in the blend is not explained on the table.

This is most likely a secret recipe that Zipfizz has created in order to make their product unique and set apart from other energy drinks.

The caffeine in Zipfizz is derived from caffeine anhydrous and the guarana seed extract and, as mentioned previously, each tube contains 100 mg of caffeine.

And so, there must only be 105 mg of the other ingredients combined together.

It also seems that the ingredients they used for their blend are substances from plants that have antioxidative properties or are still being studied to see if they do have these health effects.

I will now explain the benefits and risks of each of the ingredients in this blend.

Caffeine Anhydrous

Caffeine anhydrous is just caffeine extracted from the leaves and seeds of coffee plants and then dehydrated to form a powder. When mixed into water, this substance is just the same as the caffeine found in coffee and energy drinks.

I have already explained caffeine in detail so we’ll move on to the next ingredient.

Guarana Seed Extract

The guarana seed extract is a substance collected from the seeds of the Guarana plant, native to the Amazon rainforest in South America.

This substance helps improve memory and increase energy. It also contributes to better cardiovascular health and prevents diseases of the eyes in the elderly.

You can consume up to 50-75 mg of this substance to experience its health benefits. However, consuming very large amounts will lead to the same side effects as excessive caffeine intake such as anxiety, insomnia, and palpitations.

Green tea leaf Extract

Green tea leaf extract is rich in antioxidants and strengthens brain function as well as helping with weight loss.

The antioxidant in the green tea leaf that leads to the amazing health benefits it provides is a catechin called epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG. Without this, these benefits would not exist.

However, it is highly recommended to consult a doctor before using this supplement because, if it is consumed on an empty stomach and/or in high doses, it can be quite toxic. And so, consume only 250-500 mg a day after eating a full meal.

Alpha-lipoic Acid

Alpha-lipoic acid is an antioxidant used to treat nerve pain in diabetic patients as well as lower cholesterol in the blood. It has also been shown to lower weight in obese patients.

Good sources of alpha-lipoic acid include:

  • yeast
  • broccoli
  • potatoes

This substance is naturally produced by the human body so it is best to take supplements of alpha-lipoic acid if you have diabetes and/or high cholesterol.

It is recommended that diabetics take 600-1800 mg per day and 300-1200 mg per day for those with high cholesterol.

Keep in mind, though, that children aged 16 years and below should not be exposed to high doses of this substance as it causes unconsciousness, vomiting, and seizures.

Since this substance is also present in the Immune Health variety, you should only let your children consume this product moderately.

Green coffee bean extract

Green coffee bean extract is collected from raw, unroasted coffee beans. Like roasted coffee beans, it is an antioxidant and source of caffeine.

Its benefits and risks are just the same as caffeine, and so, consume only in the same amount as brewed coffee to avoid the side effects.

Research has yet to prove if it can indeed contribute to weight loss and lowering of blood sugar and blood pressure.

Grape Seed Extract

The grape seed extract is another source of antioxidants and has been commonly used in Europe. However, research also yet has to prove its health benefits.

Research is still being done to see if this substance can indeed treat cardiovascular conditions and eye-related complications of diabetes.

There is still no recommended dose given by doctors so it is best not to consume too much to avoid the side effects like nausea, headache, and dizziness. Also, avoid this if you are allergic to grapes.

Grape Skin Extract

Grape skin extract is collected from the same plant as grape seed extract and so the possible benefits of this extract is also still being studied. The risks of this substance are also the same as that of grape seed extract.

Research also seems to show that it is very beneficial to human health when grape seed extract and grape skin extract is used in combination.

Zipfizz Flavors

Zipfizz is available in various flavors which you can choose from according to your desired taste.

The flavors include:

  • Berry
  • Blueberry Raspberry
  • Citrus
  • Grape
  • Orange Soda
  • Pink Grapefruit
  • Pink Lemonade
  • Fruit Punch
  • Orange Cream
  • Black Cherry

Zipfizz Directions for Use

Zipfizz energy powders are available as either the original variety or the Immune Health variety.

For the original variety, just add one tube of powdered energy shot in 16oz of water or non-carbonated drink and shake it well.

The Immune Health variety is basically vegan, gluten-free with zero caffeine and no sugar. You can add the powder to water or any drink or even a meal you’re having.

This variety is devoid of caffeine making it acceptable for children.

Key Points:

  • Don’t mix the energy powder with carbonated drinks due to fizzing
  • For better action (according to the manufacturer), drink 15 to 30 minutes before starting your tasks for the day.

Is Zipfizz bad for your health?

As long as you consume Zipfizz in moderation, it will not pose harm to your overall well-being.

Zipfizz energy drink with a balanced diet is a great combo.

Anything in excess is a danger to the body. Zipfizz contains caffeine and vitamin B12, and if taken in excess, there can be some potential side effects.

But since this product is ingested orally, as I’ve mentioned earlier, know your limits, and don’t forget to consult a doctor if you have health concerns such as sensitivity to caffeine, vitamin B12, or any other element.

Here is a video of a customer’s experience when he used Zipfizz and the side effects he experienced.

Can we use Zipfizz while on diet?

Zipfizz has only a total of 20 calories in the pack. As there is no sweetener like sugar in it, you can use this product while you’re on a low-calorie diet.

It certainly will not cause weight increment but will surely help you in remaining active when you feel down during dieting.

Zipfizz energy isn’t derived from excessive amounts of sugar or caffeine. It has an average amount of caffeine as popular power and sports beverages while also being sugar-free! As a result, there are no sugar highs or lows.

What’s the best time for intake of Zipfizz?

The time of intake of Zipfizz is solely dependent on your needs. But, according to the manufacturer, you can drink 15-30 minutes before your activities for maximum effect.

But, according to researchers, it takes one hour for caffeine to take effect once it is absorbed and distributed to the tissues of the body and to the brain.

The absorption and distribution are only quick if caffeine is ingested on an empty stomach. But, considering the other ingredients in Zipfizz that I have discussed, it would be better if you eat a meal first.

Caffeine remains in your bloodstream and will be used up by your body for a maximum of 5 hours considering you are healthy and are not pregnant. Otherwise, it could stay for a shorter or longer amount of time.

If you ingest large amounts, you will just expel the rest via urine like with vitamin B12.

And so, if you’re an athlete, you can drink during your training session to keep you active and delay fatigue.

If you’re a student who falls asleep during long lectures, then Zipfizz is your best class pal to keep you active and attentive during the whole course.

Test ahead, and if you feel sleepy, Zipfizz will wake you. Get your focus back with Zipfizz.

How long does the effect of Zipfizz last?

Each person’s metabolism is unique but the Zipfizz website states that their product can keep you alert for 4-6 hours.

Zipfizz provides a quick burst of vitamins, nutrients, ions, and essential amino acids to aid in hydration. Athletes, busy households, academics, professionals, and people on the go will love it.

Zipfizz’s innovative recipe, which contains naturally derived caffeine, gives you a jolt of energy and concentration.
