As you can see above, Advocare Spark contains a variety of nutrients. Next, let’s dive into the details of some key ingredients that make the real difference in this product.

Caffeine in Advocare Spark

Approximately 120 mg of caffeine is found in each serving of Advocare Spark. This is more than the amount of caffeine in Red Bull which contains 80 mg.

Pro tip: If you’re going to bed, avoid drinking Advocare Spark since it may keep you awake all night.

As we have talked about many times previously, caffeine is an energy-boosting stimulant that is popular around the world.

Caffeine helps to:

All that sounds really great but also keep in mind that an overdose of caffeine can cause some potential health problems like:

  • headaches
  • insomnia
  • nervousness
  • irritability
  • frequent urination or inability to control urination
  • palpitations
  • muscle tremors

And so, the FDA suggests that you shouldn’t consume more than 400 mg of caffeine a day since that is the upper limit.

Since Advocare Spark contains 120 mg of caffeine per sachet, you shouldn’t take more than three servings per day. Three servings equal to 360 mg of caffeine and that would still be within the recommended limit.

So always remember that caffeine has a lot of health benefits but only if you take it moderately.

Carbohydrates in Advocare Spark

Illustration of four pieces of pasta
Carbs are important in energy production.

When you look at the supplement fact table of Advocare Spark, you will notice that it shows the number of total carbohydrates found in the energy drink. Advocare Spark contains 4 g of total carbohydrates per serving.

Carbohydrates are naturally occurring sugar molecules usually derived from plants. Carbohydrates are one of the three important types of nutrients needed by the body. The other two types are protein and fats.

The total carbohydrates are a mix of the total sugars (which include added natural sugar), dietary fibers, and sugar alcohols present in food products.

Advocare Spark, however, does not contain natural sugar and fiber. But it does contain the sugar alcohol sucralose which solely provides the 4 g of carbs in this drink.

Also do not forget that excess intake of carbohydrates may lead to side effects like:

  • stroke and obesity
  • risk of chronic diseases like diabetes
  • increased triglycerides

Calories

A single sachet of Advocare spark contains 45 calories. Calories are units commonly used to measure energy in food and beverages.

Our body requires energy to keep our bodies up and running and functioning normally. About 10-15% of consumed calories of energy are used to run metabolic functions.

If you consume high-calorie foods, then the presence of unburned calories will result in your body accumulating fat.

The general recommended calorie intake for men is 2200-3200 calories per day while for women it is 1600-2400 calories per day.

However, it is better to use weight loss calculators if you are serious about tracking your specific caloric intake since that depends on factors like sex, height, weight, age, and activity level.

If you consume more than the recommended amount of calories (specific to you) on a daily basis then you may acquire health issues like:

  • Heart Disease
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Gallstones
  • Cancer

Sugar

Natural sugar is a substance extracted from sugar beets and sugarcane and is one of the commonly used natural sweeteners (the other being honey).

But, natural sugar has some potential side effects if you take excessive amounts.

These include:

The good news is that there is no natural sugar added in Advocare Spark.

The sweet taste of Advocare Spark is instead provided by sucralose.

Sucralose is an artificial sweetener 600 times sweeter than sugar and contains low calories. It has been approved for use since 1999 by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after reviewing several studies on the substance.

Taurine

Our body uses amino acids like taurine as antioxidants to move minerals around.

Researchers have discovered a long list of benefits associated with taurine, a molecule found naturally in the human body.

These include:

  • controlling blood sugar in diabetics
  • helping reduce cholesterol and blood sugar and improving heart health
  • increasing substantial exercise performance by burning more fat during exercise
  • minimizing the risk of hearing loss

Research shows that taking up to 3,000 mg of taurine per day is not harmful and Advocare Spark only contains 200 mg of taurine.

Note: If taurine used in food products is extracted from animal sources, the said product will not be vegan. On the other hand, if the taurine is synthesized artificially then the product would be vegan-friendly.

L-Tyrosine

Advocare Spark contains 500 mg of tyrosine.

The amino acid tyrosine is an important chemical compound needed by the human body. Studies have shown that, at dosages of 30-150 mg/kg body weight, it can maintain alertness, raises mood, and produces hormones that get depleted due to stress.

Originally discovered in cheese, it can be found in many foods. The Greek word “tyros” actually means “cheese”, hence the source of the name L-tyrosine.

The FDA has deemed L-tyrosine as generally safe as long as products containing them are manufactured properly and consumed responsibly.

From all this information presented, it is my recommendation to consume this drink moderately or, even better, consult your doctor first.

B- Complex vitamins

A bunch of round, yellow pills
The different B vitamins function to keep the body working well.

The complex of different B vitamins consists of:

  • B-1 (thiamine)
  • B-2 (riboflavin)
  • B-3 (niacin)
  • B-5 (pantothenic acid)
  • B-6 (pyridoxine)
  • B-7 (biotin)
  • B-9 (folic acid)
  • B-12 (cobalamin)

In Advocare Spark, the only B vitamins present are vitamin B-6, niacin, pantothenic acid, and vitamin B-12.

Let’s take a look at those.

Vitamin B6

Advocare Spark contains 15 mg of vitamin B6 per serving.

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), a water-soluble vitamin, is needed by the body for multiple purposes.

Among its many functions are helping maintain nerve and skin health, preventing infections, regulating blood sugar levels, and producing red blood cells and some enzymes.

So it is very important that your body has enough vitamin B6. An adequate amount keeps your body functions up and running and also treats chronic diseases.

But like any ingredient, excess vitamin B6 intake has some side effects.

So what is the recommended dosage of vitamin B6?

Health authorities recommend taking no more than 50 mg of vitamin B6 supplements each day for adults.

Since the vitamin B6 amounts in this drink are within the recommended limits, you don’t need to be concerned about potential side effects if and only if you drink Advocare Spark moderately.

Keeping these facts in mind, I don’t take more than three servings each day. Take note: the lower, the better.

Vitamin B12

Advocare Spark contains 45 micrograms of vitamin B12 per serving.

Cobalamin, commonly known as vitamin B12, is a water-soluble vitamin involved in the synthesis of DNA and the metabolism of fatty acids and amino acids.

Among the other functions of vitamin B12 (cobalamin) are red blood cell production and maintaining proper neuron function.

The recommended amount of vitamin B12 intake is 2.4 micrograms per day but the amount needed by pregnant women is 2.6 micrograms.

As you have noticed, the vitamin B12 amount in Advocare Spark is definitely higher than the recommended amount.

But there’s no need to worry as higher doses of vitamin B12 can be taken safely if you do not have any kidney problems since any excess is passed through your urine and not absorbed by the body.

If you do have urinary health issues, I recommend you consult your doctor before trying out this energy drink.

Niacin (Vitamin B3)

Advocare Spark actually contains 60 mg of niacin per serving.

Niacin (also called Vitamin B3) is a molecule that plants and animals form from the amino acid tryptophan. It is essential to the human body because it is needed to produce energy from food.

This vitamin is quite helpful when it comes to keeping your digestive system, nervous system, and skin in good shape.

Health experts recommend that adult males take 16 mg of niacin a day while adult women (who are not pregnant or breastfeeding) take 14 mg of niacin a day. But these experts also state that you will not experience side effects if you do not exceed 2000 mg of niacin a day.

The possible side effects of niacin caused by excessive intake are:

The amount of niacin in this drink is actually more than the recommended dosage per day. Considering this, I believe it’s best to take this drink in moderation to avoid reaching the upper limit (2000 mg) and getting side effects.

Pantothenic acid

Advocare Spark contains 50 mg of pantothenic acid but health experts recommend taking only 5 mg per day. However, they also say that it should be safe to consume up to 1000 mg per day but with the possibility of diarrhea.

Vitamin B5, also known as pantothenic acid, is a water-soluble B vitamin essential for good health.

Humans and animals require pantothenic acid to synthesize and metabolize proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids. It is also needed to make coenzyme A (CoA), a molecule that helps produce energy in the human body.

As I mentioned earlier, I recommend taking three servings or even less of this product daily to avoid an overdose of any substance present.

Always consult your doctor before taking any energy drink if you have health issues.

How long does the Advocare Spark effect last?

The time it takes for caffeine to be absorbed after consumption of Advocare Spark may take 45 minutes. As a result, blood pressure and heart rate will increase

In 30 minutes to an hour, caffeine will reach its peak level in your bloodstream and you will experience a boost in alertness, focus, and physical performance.

After around 5 hours, half of the caffeine you consumed will already be used up if your liver is healthy. The effects of caffeine will diminish over time and your energy will drop.

If you take the energy drink in the morning, you can drink another caffeinated beverage or energy drink by the end of the day because your body will have fully depleted the caffeine you ingested.

Can you drink Advocare Spark every day?

As long as you consume Advocare Spark in moderation daily, you can drink it every day.

It’s best to limit your intake of energy drinks to three servings or less per day if it contains caffeine and a large number of other components in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle and avoid health issues.
